别名:鸡头黄精、黄鸡菜、笔管菜、爪子参、老虎姜、鸡爪参。
黄精用酒、黑豆同蒸后切片用，习称制黄精。为百合科植物黄精、多花黄精和滇黄精的根茎。
根茎细柱形，略扁。一端或两侧稍膨大，形如鸡头，或有短分枝；表面黄白色，半透明或灰黄色，有纵皱纹。质坚脆。气微，
味甜，有粘性。
性味归经:
甘，平；归脾，肺，肾经。
功效特点:
有补血滋阴，润肺止咳，补脾益气的功效。
用于脾胃虚寒，肾虚精亏之头晕，腰膝酸软，精神疲倦，肺燥干咳，消渴，降血压。
古籍记载:
《本经逢原》:黄精，宽中益气，使五藏调和，肌肉充盛，骨髓强坚，皆是补阴之功。
《名医别录》谓黄精“补中益气，除风湿，安五脏”
常规用量:
内服，煎汤，10-15g。外用适量。

注意事项:
凡脾虚有湿，咳嗽痰多及中寒泄泻者均忌用。
